The Love Story

Our lovely couple met online, before an interesting date at a restaurant where Jessica thought Jared had done a runner when he went to move his car! Thankfully he did indeed come back, and their love story started to unfold.

The proposal came as a romantic surprise to our wonderful bride. After Jared said it was just a dinner date, the couple got their glamour on, before a scenic waterfront walk in Washington DC. Jared surprised Jessica with a singer performing one of her favourite songs! Her sister recording the whole thing, and Jared proposed before taking his new fiancé to their meal with close friends.

A Luxury Destination Wedding Venue – Quinta Lago Dos Cisnes

On the banks of the Cávado River, a few miles from the city of Brava, lies Quinta Lago Dos Cisnes. A dream Portuguese venue for an incredible event fit for making wedding day memories! A luxury spot surrounded by nature, its gardens and lake-view crafted an unforgettable experience for Jessica & Jared. The best destination wedding photography starts with a pre-shoot. With breathtaking destinations like Porto Cathedral and the Don Luis Bridge at our fingertips, our team had countless opportunities to direct and capture the most romantic photos and videos, setting the tone for one gorgeous gallery.

Josh, one of Fire & Ice’s videographers, describes:

“We love inviting our couples to do an extra shoot either before or after their wedding day, as it gives us a whole day to capture additional footage to tie into their films. Plus, they get a whole set of extra photos as well. We can visit different locations, they can wear different outfits, and we can take extra time to plan and create epic shots. All without the pressure or time constraints of a wedding day, hosting guests and such. Our couples love this extra day, and it adds an extra bit of spice that nobody expects. The result is like a montage from a movie, it really levels up our films!”

The Traditional Nigerian Ceremony

For their traditional Nigerian ceremony, the couple observed Igbo wedding practices. This involved Jessica dancing through the guests to find Jared, presenting him with wine to drink before kneeling at their parents’ feet to be declared as married. Jessica’s father and brother also presented kola nuts to their family members in the audience. With so much to capture, our photography and videography dream team had endless opportunities to capture joyful, candid moments throughout the proceedings. The bride donned beautiful traditional red wedding attire, and filled every frame with bright, lively colour that ignited every photo with energy and life!

The White Wedding Ceremony

After a quick outfit change, the groom danced his way into their white ceremony. Then followed the coupled bridal party in turquoise green dresses and smart black suits. The bride got ready in the treehouse, before entering down the elegant rustic staircase. The white ceremony was held in a dreamy forest room, making for some of the best luxury wedding photography you could dream of! Our happy pair lit candles with their parents, and with a 7-camera setup, Fire & Ice had a range of angles to capture every detail and perspective, giving fantastic creative options for the editing to follow. 

The Wedding Reception

Back in their black & gold traditional wear, seen last in their pre-shoot, our fabulous couple took to the island stage. A wooden platform in a body of water in the heart of Quinta Lago Dos Cisnes. They brought their dream destination wedding to a glamorous close, spotlit as their guests watch them cut their cake and pour champagne. As their glasses clinked, a fountain of sparklers showered down around them… Leaving the guests awed and cheering as loud as you can imagine! See a sneak peek of the toast here.

A Destination Photography & Videography Team

Rising to the occasion, we assembled a team of top wedding photographers, with Christian and Els armed to photograph this fantastic destination wedding, partnered with Josh, Jack and Martin who captured all the moments with stunning cinema-style videography. From the traditional Nigerian fashion of their religious ceremony, to the timeless and stylish white wedding, closing with a truly special reception, our expert photography and videography team were ready to deliver their dream package in nothing but luxury Fire & Ice style.  

The Film Editing Begins…

So the wedding day came to a close, the Fire & Ice team packed our kit headed back to our accommodation. But with four days left in Portugal, and reeling with excitement about all the luxury content we’d captured of Jess & Jared’s beautiful destination wedding, we spent the next four days gathered around the kitchen table working together to create the next wedding film to break the internet. 

Chris watched back all the footage and selected the best clips, whilst Els hunted Musicbed for the perfect music and designed their title and movie poster. Josh and Martin started collaboratively piecing together the project, all of which later came together to form a 3 minute sequence… But still not quite complete. We packed our bags as the sun set on our last day in Portugal, and headed to Porto airport with the goal to colour grade the film by the time we land at Bristol Airport. After passing through check in, security and the boarding lounge, we arrived at our row of seats on our plane and the countdown began… 2 hours and 10 minutes until touchdown! Josh pulled the laptop from his bag and dove into the edit.

Did we manage it? You bet we did! 

With 40 minutes until landing, the film was set to export. We’re all still buzzing from such an incredible destination wedding, working with such a kind, welcoming and extravagant bride & groom, who’s passion matched our own–evident in their photos and films.
