One of the greatest honours Fire & Ice have known is being asked to shoot another professional videographer’s big day, so when Sophie & Andrew approached us to capture every divine memory from their luxury Mexico destination wedding, we packed our bags! These high school sweethearts gave us nothing short of perfection, and our passionate destination wedding videography team set out to curate a masterpiece for their wedding films.

Filming a Luxury Destination Wedding in Playa Del Carmen, Cancun
On the outskirts of Cancún in Playa Del Carmen stands the grand Fives Beach Resort, a luxury family resort overlooking the Riviera Maya – this titanic spot served as the perfect venue for the best wedding videography, from preparation to last dance, welcoming them and their guests for their luxurious day. Littered with palm trees, bars and picture perfect pools, the resort boasts an ocean view that seems unending, and made for a brilliant setting for the most divine Mexico destination wedding videography we could offer!

A Romantic Proposal
Our darling duo met in the junior year of high school, and started dating in September 2011. After a romantic prom together, the tough call was made to travel to different colleges – their love stood the test and once their studies were done, they set off on a divine adventure to Asia with their dearest comrades, before returning home to start their story together.
Exactly 7 years after attending prom together, Andrew proposed next to a lantern-lit lake, with dear friends waiting nearby to celebrate their dream come true. Now, more than 10 years later, those same friends gather to celebrate these true loves once again. The pair love hosting their nearest and dearest for wine clubs and poker nights, when they aren’t jet-setting across the world on their latest luxury adventure!
Destination Wedding Videography for a Luxury Mexico Wedding
After a glorious and sunny two day run-up to the wedding, filled with pool parties and excursions around the luxury resort, it was finally time for our high school sweethearts to tie the knot. Our groom and his groomsmen made a dynamic entrance for our videographers to capture, strutting their stuff down the aisle.
Married overlooking the Caribbean Sea
As the music settled, the beautiful bridesmaids, in tender tan dresses, elegantly paved the way for her entrance. She walked down the aisle with her mother and father leading the way. The ceremony was officiated by one of the bride’s cousins, who also doubled as a bridesmaid. The tender couple exchanged rings and vows under a flower-covered pavilion overlooking the calm Caribbean Sea.
With their first kiss as husband and wife, the ceremony ended and the newlyweds exited under a rain of confetti. We took the divine pair away for a romantic intimate shoot. This gave us a golden opportunity to plan and execute visually intriguing match-cuts. These cuts highlighted the exotic scenes of Cancun in their luxury Mexico wedding videography.
The bride fell during the first dance… and requested it went into the film!!
With a choreographed first dance planned, the couple took to the dance floor hand in hand. But little did they know, the wind had blown sand onto the dance floor, making it super slippery! Not just the bride fell; two other guests slipped over before they swept the sand away. The whole wedding party were in fits of laughter over the ordeal. A few days later, they all gathered to watch the wedding film for the first time… They burst out laughing all over again as the bride had requested the falls to go into the edit!
Monkey gatecrashes wedding photoshoot!
Back to the wedding day; the team got a sneak peek as Sophie & Andrew rehearsed under a canopy of forest trees, where even the local wildlife wanted to get involved… to the newlyweds’ surprise, a Spider Monkey jumped down from the surrounding foliage and climbed its way up the groom during a twirl with his wife in his arms, all with its baby on its back! The clip of the monkey went viral, and was shared by on news channels and social media all over the world; East Coast Radio, LADBible, UniLAD, Reddit, Gulf Digital News, News.com.AU, Indian Express, ABP Live, Newsflare, News18, Times Now News and GDN Online.
Back to the humans… it was time to party! In a tented reception on the beach, surrounded by loved ones, vibes were divine, energetic, and full of love and liveliness. The sparkler fireworks had nothing compared to the sparks coming off our glamorous duo as they showed off their dancing chops, before letting loose for the night with their nearest and dearest, and our expert videographers were there to capture every step, twirl and twist of this dynamic duo.
