From a vibrant and boundless London takeover to a dreamy, classic white wedding in a Greek amphitheatre… Naima and Tyson’s Luxury Destination Greek Wedding Photography is everything we envision when our wedding cinematography team say FIRE & ICE. This unforgettable pair gave us an immense amount to capture! Starting with traditional African proceedings in the booming metropolitan playground of London. Then, a week later, leading us to a classic and elegant ceremony on the glorious Greek island of Ios! Our photography and videography team had every option for grand and cinematic mastery in every frame.

We had the joy of talking with our fantastic bride Naima after her big day, who ran us through some of the highs, lows, but most importantly the glamour and fashion of the event, which steals every frame it graces in our signature wedding cinematography. Naima touched on the dichotomy of the two events, saying how the couple “saw it as an event with two halves having different energies – the traditional was food, family, vibes, having a good time, and part two was meant to be more romantic, more relaxed.” 

THE NEWLYWEDS

Our explosive duo first met in 2009 at university, and 7 years later started their journey as a couple. After a fairytale proposal in Paros, Greece, Naima and Tyson knew they’d found one of their wedding destinations, as Naima explains: “We chose Greece because we got engaged there, we knew we wanted to do a full circle thing and come back to get married. All of our friends were obsessed with our stories and social media while we were in Greece, so I was like ‘well, you want to go to Greece? Let’s go to Greece!’”

The chic newlyweds report sharing everything, but particularly a love for touring London’s patisseries and more artisanal scenes, before relaxing with their favourite shows at home with quality food. Even in their everyday lives, these two glisten with a fantastic contrast in themselves and these two extremes of high fashion and calmed beauty gave Fire & Ice everything they needed to curate and craft elegant and cinematic wedding photography and videography that showed us the character of the couple, unafraid to go from the extreme energy of their glamorous London traditional, to the tranquil Greek scenery of their luxury destination wedding ceremony.

PART ONE – LONDON

Our epic adventure for this brilliant pair started in Mare Street, London. Naima talked us through her first outfit of the proceedings. “My aunt made this [dress] […] Designed it, and hand-painted it with lots of symbols that are representative of Guyana and my culture. We don’t have a national dress so we kind of freestyled it.”

After transitioning from royal Guyanese golds to the harmonious blues of her second outfit, Naima & Tyson took to the streets of London – the city as their stage, this regal pair painted their style through every step, and gave our award-winning team nothing but glamour to capture. Naima & Tyson brought the beauty and grandeur of their heritage to the streets of their home, sporting elegant traditional attire through a bustling urban backdrop, and igniting the city with bursts of flair that made them unmissable. With method behind the magic of her outfit, Naima explains her first outfit change, and the symbolism of changing to the second, blue dress: “I enter in traditional clothes for my family, then I marry Tyson at the traditional [wedding] and I change into his family’s traditional attire, to say that I’m now part of his family.”

PART TWO – IOS, GREECE

There’s enough scenery for any photographer or filmmaker to capture across the coast of Ios (Greece) without adding an old-school white wedding into the mix. But going big (never going home) was at the heart of every moment for Naima & Tyson’s luxury destination ceremonials!

THE PREPARATIONS

THE CEREMONY

At Odysseas Elytis amphitheatre, our fiery couple graced the cobblestones for an elegant ceremony meant for the movies. Luckily, Fire & Ice were poised at every angle of the amphitheatre… We were ready to make a cinematic masterpiece of this unique moment! We captured both photography and videos of their luxury destination greek wedding ceremony.

First down the steps to the stage came Naima’s bridal party, sporting an unconventional but exquisite choice in off-white dresses! Naima touched on this choice in her party’s outfits. “I thought it’s very Greecian, they all have amazing skin tones, the sun will be out […] It was actually ivory which is the same colour as my dress. I knew the material was slightly different, it was a bit more satin… People asked ‘are you sure about this?’ but it pops right?!”

Naima had no concerns about losing her limelight. So as she graced the staircase to join her husband for a movie-scene ceremony, Fire & Ice had the honour of capturing every frame of their wedding photography and videography with the beauty and simplicity it was due. The simple but striking white aesthetic made for photos fit for posters to fill their gallery.

SAYING “αντιο” (GOODBYE!)

When we asked Naima for any final thoughts, she had only the best testimony to sing for a destination wedding like her magical day in Ios: “When you pull people out of their normal habitat to somewhere beautiful to get married, it’s just a different vibe and different energy. People aren’t rushing from work, they aren’t just coming to the reception because they’re doing a half day. I think you can get the people that you love, get their full attention, get them relaxed – it’s just a recipe for magic.”

Finally, we had to make sure we’d given this magical duo everything they could’ve hoped for in their wedding cinematography and photography. Naima gratefully commended our work throughout, “Oh, you guys were the stars of the show! We’ve had nonstop amazing feedback, everybody’s asking “who are they? We need them for everything, can they come to my son’s birthday?” Commitment to the craft, attention to detail, turnaround times, everything. You brought the heat and we LOVE you!”

Behind every frame of our iconic cinematography was the titan tem of Josh and James, shooting through the Sony A7Siii, with the addition of the DJI AVATA drone for epic landscape shots in Ios.
