A Romantic Lake Tahoe Engagement
Jonathan & Cherie met at their church over 10 years ago, before starting to date in 2015. After a first date in Bubba Gump’s in Ala Moana, their connection was undeniable, and the two set off on a luxury jet-setting adventure, exploring the world and capturing divine memories on every page of their story. In January 2023, our fantastic groom experienced snow for the first time on their travels to Lake Tahoe, and in the magic of the moment, proposed to Cherie – she of course said yes, and the next chapter began!
A Destination Wedding Venue in Paradise
The best destination wedding videography isn’t just about the bride and groom. It’s about the perfect cinematic venue too, and St Joseph Church in Waipahu did not disappoint. Deeply rooted in its community spirit, this divine Waipahu pillarstone stands beautiful in the town centre. Its modern but immortal aesthetic painted every frame of our film. The stained glass window at the back of the hall is as cinematic as its unmistakable exterior. In all, St Joseph Church offered our expert videographers a playground of opportunity for luxury wedding film visuals.
Housing the church’s timeless stature, the town of Waipahu was a luxury experience to visit, let alone capture. In the many places Fire & Ice have had the joy of visiting, Hawaii is one of our favourite destination wedding locations.
Beautiful Videography for a Luxury Hawaii Wedding
At the break of dawn, our tireless team ventured out to some of Oahu’s cinematic landmarks. Our aim was to capture the sunrise over the divine local scenery. From the cinematic shores of the beach to the peaks of the mountains… We knew our establishing shots would have to catch the grace of the land in all its glory. With drone footage using the DJI AVATA, we set the foundations for a truly luxury destination wedding film.
After a scenic ceremony at St Joseph Church, our couple gathered their nearest and dearest for our signature group shots. This is the perfect moment to celebrate all the wonderful guests who make up such a special day. With a bubble machine decorating their exit, our wonderful couple made their way to the Hyatt Regency. This is where the party started with a local Hawaiian band kicking off the dance floor!
Among the luxury celebrations, Cherie performed a surprise dance for her husband, inspired by traditional Hawaiian hula. Our team were clued in, thanks to video-call consultations in the run up planning of the wedding. Our camera crew actually snuck Cherie off to the beach at sunrise, and filmed her hulu dance on the shore… This levelled-up their wedding teaser film from epic to EPIC!

In this masterpiece wedding videography, match cuts were a great element of the film’s inception, such as our beautiful bride’s solo dance on the beach cutting to her cinematic performance for her groom, or their romantic dipped kiss being matched in three different locations, outfits and times!
